Jessie J steals the show as Brit Awards critics’ choice

CHART topper Jessie J claimed it was a “amazing” time for British music at the Brit Awards last night.

The 22-year-old winner of this year’s Critics’ Choice award said it made her proud to be an artist.

Jessie, at number one with Price Tag, said: “It’s a super amazing time for British music right now — it has evolved so much.

“To be number one is amazing. I’m going to work hard and hopefully I’ll be here again next year.”

Jessie, real name Jessica Cornish, said the Brit Award was yet to sink in. “It feels like a dream, it’s crazy,” she said.

Rapper Tinie Tempah was named Best Breakthrough Act and his hit Pass Out won the Best British Single accolade.

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire won Best International Album and the prize for British Male Solo Artist went to Plan B.

The International Male Solo Artist award went to Cee Lo Green. Laura Marling took the gong for Female Solo Artist. Teenage sensation Justin Bieber was named International Breakthrough Act and Rihanna took the International Female award
