Downfall writer dies at 61

GERMAN film producer, director and screenplay writer Bernd Eichinger, who was behind films such as The Neverending Story has died aged 61.

He suffered a heart attack during a dinner with family and friends in Los Angeles.

One of his most successful productions was the 2004 Downfall, for which he also wrote the screenplay. The movie depicts the last days of Nazi Germany in Adolf Hitler’s bunker.
