Too late now to make the economy an electoral issue

IRISH politics is not as exciting as that of Italy, with Silvio Berlusconi and his antics at the centre.

But many colleagues in Brussels find Irish politics mildly interesting, especially now that the election has been called.

So, many ask, what are the main issues likely to be, and they expect the answer to be “the economy”.
