Flood deaths

LANDSLIDES and floods in the central Philippines have killed five children, including a 12-month-old baby and his sister, 5, who were buried under mud.

Flood deaths

Civil defence officials says about 1,000 residents of St Bernard township on Leyte Island have sought shelter in evacuation centers after the landslide hit Sunday. In February 2006, a mudslide buried an entire village with more than 1,000 people in Guinsaugon.

Angel Gaviola, the civil defence head, said the body of a three-year-old boy was also found, while two other children aged 10 and 11 drowned in flood elsewhere in the province.
