SINGING sensation Susan Boyle has lost out in the race to be top of the US album charts at Christmas.

The Scot was beaten into second place by American pop star Taylor Swift, whose album Speak Now sold just 5,000 more copies this week.

Earlier this year, Boyle became the first female singer to have a No 1 album in the US and Britain twice in less than a year. Her second album, The Gift, followed her debut, I Dreamed A Dream, and took the top spot in the album charts on both sides of the Atlantic.
