Pardon for Jim Morrison

FLORIDA’S Clemency Board has posthumously pardoned singer Jim Morrison of The Doors for his 40-year-old conviction on indecent exposure and profanity charges.

Pardon for Jim Morrison

Outgoing Governor Charlie Crist requested the pardon and the Clemency Board unanimously granted it.

Mr Crist expressed doubts that Morrison actually exposed himself during a rowdy concert in Miami’s Dinner Key Auditorium on March 1, 1969.

Morrison was appealing against the conviction when he was found dead in a Paris bathtub in 1971.

The Doors members insist that Morrison teased the crowd, but never actually showed his penis.

At the hearing, Mr Crist called the conviction a “blot” on the record of an accomplished artist for “something he may or may not have done”.
