Comedian to avoid charges

US prosecutors do not anticipate filing charges against comedian Russell Brand over a scuffle with a photographer at LA International Airport, officials said yesterday.

City Attorney’s spokesman Frank Mateljan said Brand met prosecutors on Wednesday and it is unlikely he will face any charges.

The actor-comedian was arrested at the airport in September after an alleged attack involving a paparazzo, who placed him under citizen’s arrest.

The incident happened while Brand was travelling with singer Katy Perry, whom he married in India last month.

Mateljan said the photographer, who has not been identified, will meet a prosecutor later today.
