Bush memoirs leaked online

HIGHLIGHTS of former president Bush’s upcoming memoir, Decision Points, have been making the rounds on the internet after the Drudge Report obtained a leaked advance copy.

The book was due for release on November 9, after the midterm elections, and the Bush team was being extremely cautious about the release – Crown Publishers was not allowed to provide any review copies to the press. The company could not be reached immediately for comment.

Drudge released a few key details about the book, noting that Decision Points is a “strikingly personal work that takes very few shots at his critics,” including President Obama.

Among the more interesting tidbits, the site gave spoilers about portions of the book dealing with Bush’s relationship with Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah, 9/11, and stem cell research. Abdullah and Bush’s friendship might never have taken off because the crown prince was angry about Bush’s stance on Israel, but he spotted a turkey during a visit to Bush’s ranch and took it as a good omen.

On 9/11, Drudge reports, Bush writes that it was him who gave the order to shoot down planes, and he thought United Airlines Flight 93, which crashed in Pennsylvania, had been shot down at first. His position on stem cells came in part from a meeting with Pope John Paul II in which the pontiff asked him to support all forms of life.

Bush’s memoir is currently the most pre-ordered book in the biography and memoir section of Amazon.com.
