Happy Days actor dies

VETERAN US actor Tom Bosley, most famous for playing all-American father Howard Cunningham in the 1970s TV series Happy Days, has died at the age of 83, his agent said.

Sheryl Abrams said he died at his home in Palm Springs, California, on Tuesday morning after a battle with lung cancer.

Actor Henry Winkler, who played Arthur Fonzarelli (The Fonz), said he was “shocked” by the news.

After Happy Days, Bosley had a string of roles in TV shows, most notably as a crime-solving priest in The Father Dowling Mysteries.

He stayed active and acting nearly to the end, appearing in the Jennifer Lopez comedy The Back-Up Plan, which was released earlier this year.
