Saudi’s BlackBerry restrictions

A SAUDI telecommunications company said yesterday it has been ordered by the country’s regulatory authority to suspend key BlackBerry services, following similar moves by the United Arab Emirates.

“We have received a memorandum from the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) to suspend some BlackBerry services in August,” an official at one of the three Saudi telecom companies told AFP.

The UAE said on Sunday it will suspend BlackBerry services from October as they breach laws and raise security concerns.
