FOR the last five years, the charity Concern has been working on disaster response with the Pakistani people affected by the lethal floods over the last five days.

Yet Concern’s overseas director Paul O’Brien said everyone had been left shocked by the severity of the floods in terms of the death toll.

He said that for a number of years the charity had been working with local areas in Pakistan, Bangladesh and India affected by flooding but in most cases there had been large disruption rather than an immediate death toll.
