AN American choir boy stole the media spotlight from US President Barack Obama while he delivered a graduation speech at a high school ceremony in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

The photographs show the unnamed member of the Kalamazoo Central student choir nodding off during Obama’s address.

A video of the speech, delivered on Monday, has become an internet sensation. In videos posted online, the boy is seen succumbing to a series of gaping yawns as President Obama offers advice on how to succeed in life.

Later, the boy’s eyes droop and his head rolls forward until his chin rests on his chest, and he seems to nod off.

Occasionally the unidentified teen is jolted into consciousness as his classmates erupt into cheers and applause for the president.
