Police focus on killer’s financial problems

INVESTIGATORS were focusing on gun killer Derrick Bird’s money troubles yesterday after it emerged that he feared being jailed for tax evasion.

The taxi driver may also have resented the fact that his twin brother – thought to be his first victim – was given £25,000 (€30,000) by their father before he died more than a decade ago.

Meanwhile, tributes were paid to Bird’s 12 victims, as Prime Minister David Cameron visited Cumbria to meet the emergency services and survivors.
