Mother stamps on baby during row

A WOMAN was being held by police yesterday after stamping on her baby after being accused of stealing a mobile phone.

The stunning moment was captured by a passer-by when the suspected thief exploded in rage.

Fortunately, the baby escaped uninjured.

The incident took place in Zhengzhou, Henan province, when two women carrying babies were held after being accused of stealing the phone from another woman.

Xiao Zheng, a high school student, had discovered that her phone had gone missing and a vendor told her that two women carrying babies had taken it.

She approached the women, demanding the return of the phone but the encounter turned physical and the police were called in to investigate.

Police came on the scene as some of Xiao’s relatives showed up — one of whom pushed one of the suspected thieves.

The woman exploded with rage and threw thebaby to the ground and stamped on it while protesting her innocence.

The baby was briefly left lying crying on the road as the suspects were taken to a local police station.
