US state police said a van carrying former President Bill Clinton was hit from behind on a motorway while he was on his way to deliver the Class Day speech at Yale University.

Clinton told WTIC-TV that the accident was “just a fluke” and that he was fine.

Connecticut state police Lieutenant J Paul Vance said traffic on the Merritt Parkway was nearly at a standstill just north of New Haven because of another accident when a civilian vehicle struck the Secret Service van carrying Clinton at a very low rate of speed.
