Lilly pads her awards cabinet with more gongs

QUIRKY popstress Lily Allen took home three awards for songs from her album It’s Not Me, It’s You at the Ivor Novello awards, crowning an eye-catching year of success for the singer.

A teary-eyed Allen, dressed in a parachute-style pale yellow dress, snapped up gongs for best music and lyrics for a song and the most performed work for hit single The Fear.

She and co-writer Greg Kurstin also won songwriters of the year for their work on Allen’s album which combines light pop tunes with sharp, chatty lyrics about everyday life.

Guitar legend Johnny Marr was awarded the inspiration prize. He was hugged by Noel Gallagher as he walked to the stage to pick up his gong.

Paolo Nutini’s Sunny Side Up scooped the album award while Bat For Lashes song Daniel won best contemporary song.

Music producing legend Trevor Horn, who has worked with Robbie Williams and the Pet Shop Boys, won the PRS for Music, the outstanding contribution to British music award.

Horn joked: “It doesn’t matter what you look like, if you sing and you play an instrument you will get laid.”

Indie songstress Bat For Lashes, real name Natasha Khan, won the best contemporary song award for Daniel, upstaging more popular tracks from breakthrough artist La Roux and rapper Dizzee Rascal.
