Cowen’s tribute to Brown as he welcomes new leaders

TAOISEACH Brian Cowen yesterday said he looked forward to meeting Prime Minister David Cameron to build on the good relationships established between successive Irish and British governments.

The leaders of Ireland’s three main parties wished both Cameron and Liberal Democrats leader Nick Clegg well as they form a new Government, and paid tribute to departed PM Gordon Brown.

The Taoiseach said Brown was “a very good friend of Ireland”.
