A FRENCH pop singer yesterday won €3,000 damages from a TV news station that alleged a liaison between him and France’s first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.

Benjamin Biolay had sought €20,000 from the France-24 news channel for the “serious harm” he said he suffered from the allegation.

Biolay’s lawsuit was one of two brought after internet rumours emerged last month that President Nicolas Sarkozy and Ms Bruni-Sarkozy were having extra-marital affairs. France-24 carried the information in its international press review.
