Prosecutors close Copperfield rape probe without charge

US prosecutors closed a two-year rape investigation involving magician David Copperfield yesterday without filing any charges, and police said his accuser made a false sex assault claim against another man last month.

The illusionist’s lawyers, Angelo Calfo and Patty Eakes, previously said he denied the allegations and called the lawsuit “extortion for money, plain and simple”, but they had no immediate comment on yesterday’s decision.
