THE woman expected to be in charge of the beefed-up EU’s justice policy said she did not believe people should be subject to body scanners at airports.

Luxembourg’s Viviane Reding, who has already been a commissioner for two five-year terms, said she would be taking care that people’s privacy rights were not infringed.

“Our citizens are not objects. They are human beings”, she told the European Parliament during her hearing and said she would propose laws to increase the rights to privacy of people across the EU.
