Russian waitress Ekaterina Ivanova, 21, broke up with the 65-year-old Rolling Stone guitarist a fortnight ago.
Wood was arrested on suspicion of assault earlier this month over claims that he assaulted his young lover following a public row.
Ivanova told Hello! magazine that their romance was initially exciting when Wood left wife Jo, 54, for her, but things started to fall apart by the time the couple moved into his turreted mansion in Esher, Surrey.
She said: “The whole thing started off like a fairytale. But then it felt like an evil fairytale.
“When Ronnie and I moved into a tower, my friends were laughing and saying I was like the princess trapped in the tower. He went all Jekyll and Hyde. I’d be trapped there with an evil goblin king.”
Of the 42-year age gap, she said: “When we met, it was like we were completely the same age.”
But she added: “He sort of stayed there while I’ve grown into a woman.”
Ivanova said of the rock star’s drinking: “He would sit there and drink and I wouldn’t feel the need to. I would say ‘you can carry on drinking, but all you are doing is pushing me away’.”
She said: “I grew out of him. I just thought, what’s the point of being with an older man if he acts about 12? He was like a child with tantrums when he was drunk, throwing water bottles and doing impressions of my voice.
“It was like trying to keep a child under control. In the end I was so unimpressed by everything... I thought ‘what a pathetic person’ ... I am strong but I can’t be bothered.”
She went on: “I have a lot of respect for Jo now, because he’s a handful. I don’t know how she did it. I couldn’t. She seems to be better off without him, way happier.”
Ivanova denied she was a gold-digger, saying: “I’m not materialistic at all ... I’m now living in a small flat.”
Wood was divorced by Strictly Come Dancing star Jo last month, on the grounds of his admitted adultery, after 24 years of marriage.
