Man held for Leona attack

A MAN was detained under the Mental Health Act today after admitting punching pop star Leona Lewis in the face.

Peter Kowalczyk, 29, of Waterloo, south London, was heard to say “gotcha” as he hit the singer during a book signing, City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court heard.

Melanie Lee, prosecuting, said the star was left “frightened” and “devastated” by the incident, which left Lewis with redness and swelling to the face, and whiplash symptoms.
