Mugabe plans to regain power

ZIMBABWE’S president Robert Mugabe said he planned to regain his hold over the country he has ruled for nearly three decades.

Mugabe appeared triumphant after being re-elected to the leadership of his ZANU-PF party, which has been severely weakened after it lost its parliamentary majority in last year’s elections.

The 85-year-old leader was forced into a power-sharing deal with former rivals after the 2008 poll, but many fear it will fail as Mugabe clings to power.
