Teenage sailor realises dream with round the world record

TEENAGER Mike Perham said his dream had come true as he became the youngest person to sail solo around the world with assistance.

The college student, aged 17 years and 164 days, crossed the finishing line between Lizard Point and Ushant, France, in the 50ft racing yacht Totallymoney.com.

He set off last November and has battled with 50ft waves, gale force winds and numerous technical difficulties during the 48,000km challenge.
