THE wife of Hollywood actor Sean Penn has filed for divorce, according to reports in the US.

Robin Wright Penn, 43, submitted the legal documents on August 12 in Marin County, California, according to People magazine.

The papers state that the pair have already reached agreement on the division of property and intend to share custody of their son Hopper, 16. Their second child, daughter Dylan, is 18.
