Olive branch in Roses feud

CHART star Ian Brown has revealed his former Stone Roses bandmate John Squire tried to end their lengthy feud by writing him a song — but he refused to record it.

The singer said he was advised by his children to reject the track — even though he loved it — because Squire quit the Roses.

Fans had hoped the much-loved band would reform this year to mark the 20th anniversary of their debut album, but Squire distanced himself from the idea.

In an interview with The Word magazine, Brown claimed: “I liked it — but my sons turned round and said, ’dad you can’t work on that — he sold you out didn’t he? He left you for dead’.”

The band’s first album, called The Stone Roses, is widely hailed as one of the greatest albums of all time.
