Catholic priest quits church over son

A CATHOLIC priest has stunned his faithful flock by quitting the church at Sunday Mass telling them, “I’ve got a four-year-old son”.

Tearful parishioners were left devastated after Father Peter McDonough made the announcement at a sign-language mass for the deaf at St Patrick’s Church, in Collyhurst, Manchester.

Fr McDonough, aged 54, himself profoundly deaf, has spent the last 27 years in the Manchester and Salford dioceses working at St Joseph’s Mission for Deaf People in Collyhurst.
