Family sues KFC

A SYDNEY family has launched a lawsuit against Kentucky Fried Chicken, claiming their daughter became brain damaged and crippled from salmonella poisoning after eating a chicken wrap.

Lawyer Anthony Bartley told the New South Wales Supreme Court yesterday that there was “little or no doubt” that the chicken meal purchased from a Sydney KFC was the source of the poisoning that sickened Monika Samaan in 2005.

The girl, now 11, attended court in a wheel- chair. Bartley said she had acquired spastic quadriplegia and an intellectual disability since the poisoning.
