Two priests killed over sex offer

TWO Jesuit priests found dead in Moscow last year were killed by a drunk who was solicited for sex by one of them, investigators said yesterday.

The bodies of Russian Otto Messmer and Victor Betancourt of Ecuador were found in October in their apartment at the religious order’s Moscow headquarters.

Several days later, police announced a 38-year-old man had confessed to the killings but gave few details.

The federal investigative committee announced yesterday the man had been drinking with Betancourt, and when the priest suggested they have sex, he bludgeoned him with a dumbbell.

It said Messmer arrived later and the man also killed him to cover up the first killing.
