Sarkozy: Experts working to avoid gaps in air traffic control

Sarkozy says France’s Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner and Cooperation Minister Alain Joyandet were to head to Dakar to meet with Senegalese officials and discuss how to make sure “there is no more black hole” in air traffic control.

Sarkozy was speaking at a news conference with Brazil’s president. Both leaders have cooperated after Air France Flight 447 crashed en route from Rio de Janeiro to Paris, which killed all 228 people.

Questions have arisen over how the plane passed from air space monitored by controllers in Brazil to space monitored in Senegal.
