AN author who’s being sued by JD Salinger for copyright infringement is asking a Manhattan judge to let his book be published.

A hearing was scheduled for last night about the novel, called 60 Years Later. Its author, Fredrik Colting, writes under the name John David California. The famously reclusive Salinger was not expected to be in court.

Colting says his novel is a legally protected commentary and parody of The Catcher In the Rye.
