BORIS JOHNSON apologised yesterday for “misery” heaped on the millions of commuters and tourists whose travel plans were thrown into chaos by the Tube strike.

But the London mayor said there was hope that the disruption could end early, insisting: “There has never been a worse-supported strike by RMT workers.”

When asked why the strike was not averted, he said: “I apologise for what has caused, in many cases, misery for commuters.”
