US man has 21 children with 11 mums… at age 29
They were born to at least 11 different women. And he is only aged 29.
Now Tennessee man Hatchet, who has set a record in the US by having more than 20 children, has says he can’t pay all their mother’s child support and has been taken to court.
The minimum wage worker from Knoxville said: “I had four kids in the same year. Twice.”
By law, the state can only take 50% of his pay to put toward child support. By the time that is divided by 21, some mothers received just $2 a month.
“The children can’t be supported all by Desmond, so the state of Tennessee has had to step in,” Hatchett’s attorney Keith Pope said.
The state says it can’t stop him from having more children, but are working out how to pay the mothers.
Hatchett maintains he did not set out to break any records for having children. “It just happened,” he said.
Now authorities are preparing to see even more mothers coming forward to claim that he is the father of their children.
One mother, who has two children with Hatchett, said she should get $70 (€50) a month, but rarely receives any child support.
“It’s frustrating, but usually, when I ask he gives it to me,” she said.
Hatchett told local TV that he did not plan to have any more children, adding that the women he was involved with all knew he had other children.
Authorities in Knoxville ordered Hatchett to appear in court to explain how he intends to pay child support for the children.
If he doesn’t pay what he owes, he will go back to jail because he is on an automatic jail order.
