Student unrest grows over plans to give Obama honorary degree

A CATHOLIC university in the US is facing growing student unrest over its plans to award President Barack Obama an honorary degree.

Obama is due to attend the University of Notre Dame in Indiana on Sunday to receive the honour and address thousands of undergraduates.

But religious groups plan to disrupt the event.
