McDonald’s in jobless plan

UP to one in four vacancies at food giant McDonald’s are set to be filled by the long-term unemployed over the next year, the company announced yesterday.

Around 6,000 jobs at the firm’s 1,200 restaurants will be offered to people who have been out of work for longer than six months.

McDonald’s also revealed it receives 1,500 applications every day from applicants, including graduates, for posts of so-called “crew members”.
