A COLLEAGUE of a worker accused of scattering peanuts in a nut-free food factory described to a jury yesterday how production was halted as staff discovered the banned foodstuff.

Human resources officer Sophie Maughan told Nottingham Crown Court that workers at the Pork Farms factory were sent to the canteen after peanuts were discovered in locations throughout the firm’s Riverside Bakery.

Paul Bentley, 42, is accused of spreading the nuts, which are strictly banned from the Nottingham site, in response to being disciplined for having a ā€œgirlieā€ calendar at work.
