8 die in strikes

Suspected US missile strikes killed at least eight people yesterday in volatile north-west Pakistan, officials and witnesses said.

Bakht Janan, a local security official, said an unmanned drone aircraft began circling over the village of Kari Khel about 3am and fired missiles at two vehicles hours later.

Four people were killed as missiles hit the vehicle and an adjacent house. Four others died and one was wounded in the second vehicle 8km away.
