VALENTINE Bukanu had finally got back on her feet after her husband tragically died and a volcano eruption over Goma burnt down her home.

Aged 33, the young mother had happily married again, had a roof over head, several children and another on the way. It all changed one autumn night in 2005 when there was a disturbance at her home door.
