John McCain’s running mate spoke directly to camera, avoided engagements and delivered often-repeated one-liners with confidence and conviction.
From her opening statement Palin made it clear she was targeting the working class demographics of “Joe-sixpack” and “soccer moms” and did so with a folksy tone pitting voters against Washington elitists. She even managed to give a “shout-out” to all the eight- and nine-year-olds who are taught by her brother in Alaska and were promised extra credit for watching the debate.
