US website helps those looking for someone to sue
WhoCanISue.com, to be launched next month, will guide aggrieved US citizens to the lawyer who is right for them.
But its founder, Curtis A Wolfe, denied the legal matchmaking site would simply increase the number of law suits clogging up the US courts.
Consumers will be given guidance as to whether they have a case worth pursuing, and real-time access to lawyers.
Wolfe said his site would simply āmake people more aware of what their rights areā.
But critics said the US courts were already clogged up with āfrivolousā lawsuits which may attract splashy headlines, but were actually denying access to people who had āseriousā cases.
Richard Sharpstein, a partner at Jorden Burt law firm in Miami, said: āAs if there arenāt enough lawyers out there inventing lawsuits, now weāre going to invite the public to do so.
The website, which will be free for consumers, will charge lawyers an annual fee of $1,000 (ā¬665) to be included on the site, plus an additional fee which will decide the prominence of their listing.
