Hello mummy! Brangelina pics sell for £7.5m

HOLLYWOOD glamour couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have struck a record £7.5 million (€9.5m) magazine deal for the first photos of their newborn twins.

After a fierce contest between the celebrity magazines, Hello! outbid its rival OK! magazine for the rights to the pictures, and even brought its publication date forward to August 4 to capitalise on the coup.

The couple are expected to donate the proceeds to their charity, the Jolie-Pitt Foundation.

A magazine insider said: “This is one of the publishing sensations of the decade — Brad and Angelina are the dream couple of the glossy magazine world and we expect to triple our circulation because of the public’s fascination and interest in the couple and their children.”

The American rights to the pictures will go to People magazine, which also published the first images of their daughter Shiloh in 2006.

The twins — Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline — were born on July 13 at the Lenval hospital in Nice in southern France amid a media frenzy as photographers scrambled to get a glimpse of the new arrivals.

The twins have remained hidden from public view since they were born.

Jolie and Pitt have signed a three-year lease on the 880-acre estate called Chateau Miraval, a renowned winery, where neighbours will include Johnny Depp and David and Victoria Beckham, according to the French newspaper Nice Matin.

The estate, reportedly valued at €45m, comes with its own vineyard, olive groves, lake, pool, moat, 20 fountains and even a forest to help ensure privacy. It also has 35 bedrooms.

Brangelina’s first biological child, Shiloh Nouvel, was born in Namibia in 2006.

Pictures of her were sold to Hello! for €2.5m, which the couple donated to charity. They have also adopted three children: six-year-old Maddox, from Cambodia; Zahara, aged three, from Ethiopia; and four-year-old Pax from Vietnam.

Once the world’s most expensive baby pictures, the first images of Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony’s twins Max and Emme sold for €3.75m last year.

Jolie and Pitt allegedly first started an affair during the filming of Mr & Mrs Smith while he was still married to Jennifer Aniston. They never publicly commented on the nature of their relationship but speculations continued throughout 2005.

On January 11, 2006, Jolie, 33, confirmed to American magazine People that she was pregnant with Pitt’s child and thereby confirmed their relationship for the first time in public.

Jolie’s estranged father, Jon Voight, is surprised she became the mother of six young children.

“You know she wasn’t the kind that played with dolls and then all of a sudden she has all of these children,” he said.

“She loves kids though,” he added. “She’s very playful.”

“It’s wonderful. They’re healthy and they’re doing well and I’m so happy,” Voight said.

“And of course the parents are really happy and over the moon. It’s a wonderful time.”
