Bruni on chic list, but Sarkozy loses snazzy dresser tag

CARLA BRUNI has made it onto a list of the world’s most stylish individuals — but her husband, the French president, has been booted out of the top 10.

Prince William’s girlfriend, Kate Middleton, also debuts in the annual Vanity Fair list.

Political wife Michelle Obama is in the top 10 for the second consecutive year.

Victoria Beckham has slipped out of favour while David Beckham is deemed one of the world’s best-dressed men.

Together, the Beckhams were given the nod last year as one of the world’s best-dressed celebrity couples.

French president Nicolas Sarkozy, another of this year’s casualties, was one of the best-dressed men on the 2007 list.

Bond star, Daniel Craig, also makes his debut, while Sarah Jessica Parker gets the seal of approval, for the first time, in 2008 despite several years as a Sex and the City fashion icon.

Tilda Swinton, the actress famed for her eccentric choice of outfits, is on the list for another year.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie make the couples list for the second year in a row in the 69th annual style poll.

The names are chosen by the magazine’s editorial staff and will appear in the September issue of Vanity Fair on Friday.

Meanwhile, Bruni has spoken about falling in love with her husband and how it would be a “dream” to have children with him.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, the 40-year-old said having children with Sarkozy would make her the happiest person in the world.

But she has ruled out fertility programmes, according to the magazine.

Bruni said: “I’d love to have children with Nicolas. I hope to, if I am young enough. It would be a dream.

“If it comes, I’d be the happiest person in the world, but if it doesn’t come, I’m not going to tempt the devil.”

She said she would be delighted to meet and have lunch with the president’s former wife, Cecilia — “But I think she is not ready, and Nicolas is not. They are still burned by their love, which proves they had a very strong love.”
