Kennedy has surgery for brain tumour

VETERAN US politician Edward Kennedy was undergoing surgery yesterday on his cancerous brain tumour.

The 76-year-old senator was diagnosed last month with a malignant glioma, an especially lethal type of brain tumour.

He was having surgery at Duke University Medical Centre for his cancerous brain tumour and then faces chemotherapy and radiation treatment, his office said.
