Surgeon died of heart problem

ONE of Britain’s leading plastic surgeons died from a heart condition, a post mortem examination has found.

Martin Kelly, 43, the husband of actress Natascha McElhone, was discovered collapsed in the doorway of his west London home on Tuesday night by a doctor friend.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said yesterday that a postmortem found Mr Kelly died from dilated cardiomyopathy — which leads the muscular walls of the heart to become dilated or stretched, causing the heart muscle to become weaker.

Three of Mr Kelly’s family members are known to have died suddenly from heart problems. Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Dubbed the “king of rhinoplasty” in celebrity circles, Mr Kelly had two young sons with Ms McElhone, who is pregnant with their third child.
