Mother arrested in fresh Shannon probe twist

DETECTIVES investigating the alleged abduction of Shannon Matthews began questioning her mother yesterday after she was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

Karen Matthews, 32, was arrested in Dewsbury late on Sunday night and taken to a West Yorkshire police station for questioning.

It is the latest twist in the investigation, which has now seen four family members arrested in connection with the nine-year-old’s disappearance on February 19.
