Al Fayed: Blair sanctioned Diana’s death
Mohamed al Fayed claims the former prime minister sanctioned the “momentous and horrific action” that saw his son Dodi Fayed and Diana, Princess of Wales killed in a car crash in Paris, their inquests were told.
Everyone from the security services, including MI6 and the CIA, the French authorities, former Metropolitan Police chiefs Lord Condon and Lord Stevens and even Diana’s own sister Lady Sarah McCorquodale came under Mr al Fayed’s veil of suspicion.
The Duke of Edinburgh was placed at the centre of the allegations as Mr al Fayed believes he ordered MI6 to orchestrate the crash that killed Dodi, Diana and their driver, Henri Paul, on August 31 1997.
The Harrods owner accused the Duke of Edinburgh of being a “Nazi” and a “racist” and branded senior royals a “dracula family” during his evidence yesterday.
In a tense exchange with Ian Burnett QC, counsel to the inquest, Mr al Fayed repeated his claim that Prince Philip was “behind the assassination and said the Prince of Wales “participated” in it.
He said: “I am sure he knows what is going to happen because he would like to get on and marry his Camilla, and this is what happened. They cleared the decks. They finished her, they murdered her and now he is happy. He married his crocodile wife and he is happy with that.”
Of Prince Philip, he said: “It is well known he is racist, fine. He will not accept my son... as a person who is different religion, naturally tanned, curly hair, they will not accept that he will have anything to do with the future king.”
Mr al Fayed said he did not think the Queen had been involved in the conspiracy, but said: “I think Prince Philip is the actual head of the Royal Family.”
He added: “He was brought up by his auntie who marries Hitler’s General.”
At another point Mr al Fayed said Prince Philip should be “sent back to Germany where he comes from”.
Mr Burnett said: “You have made the point often that Prince Philip has a German name if you dig beneath the surface.”
Mr al Fayed replied: “You want to have his original name? It ends with ‘Frankenstein’.”
The tycoon told the jury that Diana had suffered for years with the royals: “She suffered for 20 years this Dracula family.”
Mr al Fayed told the court that before the deaths of his son and Diana, he had enjoyed a “good relationship” with the royal family.
He said: “I am invited, I sit next to the Queen, I am sponsoring for £20 million (€26.6m) for 20 years the Royal Horse Show; Prince Philip comes to Harrods, shopping, has lunch once or twice with me. I have nothing.
“In the evening, during the horse show, I open dinner for him and all his Nazi German relations come over for the dinner. I have no problems. So when they step on my foot and murder my son, I am not accepting that.”
