Exotic wedding for Eddie Murphy

ACTOR Eddie Murphy celebrated New Year’s Day by tying the knot with film producer partner Tracey Edmonds.

The pair exchanged vows on Tuesday on a private island off Bora Bora in French Polynesia in front of a small group of family and friends, their representatives told People magazine.

The two began dating last year and got engaged in July.

The exotic nuptials took place on a secluded stretch of shoreline on the private island. The couple exchanged their vows in front of 25 close friends and family.

Mr Murphy, 46, has five children from his marriage to Nicole Mitchell Murphy, who filed for divorce in 2005.

He also has a daughter with Spice Girls singer Melanie Brown.

Ms Edmonds, 40, has two sons from her 13-year marriage to Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. As head of Edmonds Entertainment Group, she has produced the film and television series Soul Food.

At the ceremony Mr Murphy wore a cream suit while the bride — who walked barefoot down the aisle to the strains of Makings Of You by Gladys Knight — wore a figure-hugging wedding dress designed specifically for the occasion.

Mr Murphy’s film credits include Beverly Hill Cops, the Shrek series and Dr Dolittle.

The pair last year spoke of their desire for an intimate wedding. “We both have the same idea of what we want,” said Ms Edmonds.
