Rourke arrested for driving scooter drunk

ACTOR Mickey Rourke was arrested on Thursday in Miami Beach after police said he was driving a new Vespa scooter down the road while drunk.

The actor and former boxer was booked into the Miami-Dade Pre-trial Detention Centre in Miami and is being held on $1,000 (€680) bond.

According to a police report, authorities said they observed Rourke, 53, driving a green 2007 Vespa scooter erratically down Washington Avenue in Miami Beach on Thursday.

Police said that an officer directed Rourke off to the side of the road, at which point Rourke allegedly asked the officer, “What the **** did I do?” according to the report.

Investigators said Rourke was observed having bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and emitting a strong odour of alcohol on his breath. Police said he failed a roadside co-ordination test and was taken into custody.

Rourke was taken to the Miami Beach Police Department where he allegedly told police “I’m not drunk, I didn’t even drink that much,” according to the report. His scooter was towed to a holding facility.

Rourke, a Hollywood actor and former boxer born in Liberty City, Florida, owns a condo in Miami Beach.

According to police records, he was arrested once before in Miami Beach in 1994; charged with resisting arrest.
