Police arrest singer’s husband over court case
The Daily Mirror published photographs of Blake Fielder-Civil, 25, kissing Winehouse outside a flat in east London as he was led away in handcuffs.
Police spent several hours searching the singer’s home in Camden, north London, on Thursday reportedly having to force a door open to gain entry.
Officers arrested four men — two 25-year-olds, a 22-year-old and a 19-year-old — on suspicion of perverting the course of justice in relation to a court case involving Mr Fielder-Civil.
The arrested men are all being held at a police station in east London.
Scotland Yard confirmed that there was “police activity” at Winehouse’s property and said it was part of an “ongoing police operation”.
A spokesman confirmed the arrests related to next week’s trial, which involves Mr Fielder-Civil, and a second man, aged 39, who face charges of assault causing grievous bodily harm.
The trial, which concerns an incident on June 20 this year, is due to start on Monday at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
A spokesman for the singer would not give any details about the raid, but said: “The only thing I can tell you is that it has nothing to do with drugs and that Amy is fine and she has not been charged or arrested.”
The raid follows a difficult few months for the singer, who has received critical acclaim for her music but been under intense scrutiny due to her erratic lifestyle.
Her family spoke recently of their fears for her health and about her struggle with drugs, alcohol and bulimia.
The award-winning singer has attempted rehab — the name of her famous hit — twice but quit both times.
She cancelled several gigs this year, citing exhaustion.
