Dalai Lama’s Land Rover for sale on eBay

ALL those who fear buying a dodgy motor from an unscrupulous owner may find an unmissable deal on internet site eBay.

The Land Rover on offer is a bit on the mature side — 31-years-old — but then again so is the previous owner.

The starting price is a little high for such an old machine at $75,000 (€51,000) especially as it has no warranty.

Then again in its favour it only has 6,730 miles on the clock and “is now in immaculate condition, having been completely transformed back to its original luster”.

However, what adds most to its attraction is its former passenger, the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet. The vehicle was his personal and official car from 1966-1976 in Dharamsala, India.

During that time it was his primary method of transportation. In this vehicle, he visited many remote places in the Himalayas and India, where an all-terrain vehicle was a necessity.

The Dalai Lama’s younger brother Tendzin Choegyal is selling his sibling’s pride and joy to raise money for the Dalai Lama Foundation.

The extras that come as standard with the fully restored vehicle are not bad either.

They include a three-day Buddhism study session with the Dalai Lama in India and a meeting with Hollywood star Sharon Stone at The Missing Peace Art Exhibition. The actress launched the auction on eBay.

Surprisingly with four days to go there had still not been any bids for the extraordinary prize according to the eBay site.
